An invitation

I'm Camille. In a moment when so many of us are struggling to find a path forward, I kept returning to a private practice I've cultivated over the years — a quiet way of staying grounded and growing, on purpose, toward the person I most want to become. The Art of Becoming is my invitation to share it: to gather a like-minded community and practice, together, the very intentional art of becoming the person you've always wanted to be.

More you, every day. Purposeful. With love.— Camille

Where we gather

A restored barn among the gardens

We meet at Five Birds Farm — by candlelight and string light in a timber-framed barn at the edge of the fields, on evenings that begin at golden hour and settle into warmth.

The Season's Gatherings

A year of making & releasing

Each gathering pairs a shared conversation with something we make by hand — an object that carries the season's intention home with you. Every evening we share light fare, provisions, and a glass of wine at the table.

Let Them Eat Cake!

An invitation to gather and lay to rest what has grown worn, tired, and done. We break bread, name what we're ready to release, and give it shape in sweet confection — then bury those pieces inside a great cake to be cut, shared, and consumed. Like a garden, our used-up parts rejoin the whole, waiting to be remade.

Food Is Medicine

Food is medicine, and every herb deepens the dish. Together we craft our own infused olive oil for the season — steeped with our intentions for the New Year, to drizzle over warm bread and feed the hopes we carry forward.

Dreamscaping

Winter draws us toward rest — and in the dark, fear can take hold. This gathering is about shaping your dreamscape toward your hopes instead. We sew a soft, luxurious eye pillow filled with soothing grains and herbs to help you drift off and remember your intentions.

Creating Light

How do we make light when everything feels dark and heavy? We embody the flame — a way to cultivate our own radiance and warm those around us — and pour our intentions into a candle to light a corner of your home, or your heart, that's asking for warmth.

Shake It Up!

When winter's stillness grows heavy, we break it with sound. We build our own rattle, filled with meaningful elements that lighten the heart and move stale energy — an instrument to help clear the path toward spring.

Planting Fruition

As we prepare the soil, we prepare ourselves. This season we plant twice: a plant of your own to carry home and nurture, and a perennial for our community garden — where your intention takes root among everyone else's and returns, in bloom, year after year.

Your Story in Bloom

Rewrite your story. We name the parts of you worth celebrating and arrange them into a paper flower, each petal holding a word. Then, from farm-fresh blooms cut that morning at Five Birds Farm, you'll gather a bouquet around it — carrying home your becoming at its heart.

PhD · writer, scientist & facilitator

Camille is a writer, scientist, and workshop facilitator drawn to the places where science and soul meet. By training she is a microbiologist; by nature she is a poet, and at Private Nook she writes in free verse and photograph about the things that shape an inner life — solitude and belonging, the turning of the seasons, the shadow we carry alongside our magic, and the long practice of self-recognition. Her contemplative work is grounded in study with Char Sundust at the Sundust Oracle Institute in Seattle, where she trained in soul-centered, cross-cultural ceremonial and healing traditions rooted in the idea that all healing begins with the soul. She brings both halves of herself — the exacting and the intuitive — to The Art of Becoming. She lives close to the land she writes about, and to her two children and craftsman husband.
